The social responsibility of an individual, also known as Individual Social Responsibility (ISR), is to help and have a positive impact for the development of the society with their contribution. It is also about an individual becoming responsible with their actions that will have a positive effect on communities outside of their immediate circle (which in this case will include close friends and family).
Individual social responsibility also includes the engagement of individuals towards the community where they live, and that can be expressed as an interest towards what’s happening in the community, as well as in the active participation in solving some of the local problems. ISR can also be expressed by making donations to the society causes that can be social, cultural or ecological.
Social responsibility, whether corporate or individual, don’t only have to be a financial thing. In most cases it will only take up some of your time, ask you to share your talents or just give a helping hand to someone in need or an ear to someone in need of someone to listen to them.
If everyone just give up a little bit of their own time, we can make a great difference to the lives of the people around us.
