Thuru Lodge
In 2001, Thuru Lodge was developed, a visualized Kalahari Dream, a place where luxury, serenity and adrenaline came together. Thuru Lodge is situated in the gateway of the Green Kalahari close to the town called Groblershoop. With a rainfall of only 200mm per annum Thuru Lodge is truly an oasis in the desert.
Thuru Lodge’s unique variety of vegetation types, which is broadly classified into Nama Karoo, Kalahari and Karoo mountain vegetation, runs for 45 000 acres and therefore a wide variety of fauna and flora can seen and experienced.
In 2010, Hennie Gous and his family bought the lodge and since then his daughter Mardoret and her husband Braam started managing the lodge. In 2018 we gladly welcomed new managing couple, Burger and Heleen Schoeman, who makes sure that our clients receive the best service that we can offer. Thuru Lodge is part of a family business and we strive to give all our guests the best possible experience, arriving as clients but leaving as friends.
Thuru Lodge offers a wide and open landscape with 30+ different game species that will take your mind of things during your stay with us.
Our 5 star luxurious lodge will give you the opportunity to experience Africa at its best. We also offer various activities like horse riding, quad biking, game drives, dune dinners, serenity spa, swimming pools, Jacuzzi etc. Our specialty is a formal dinner we offer to our clients in the red sand dunes under the open sky.
Every lodge room is build and furnished different than the other rooms to give all returning clients a different experience every time they visit Thuru Lodge.
